My my My my
Stowe Youth Lacrosse 2017 Season

Stowe Youth Lacrosse begins its 9th season in 2017. What began with the interest of a few kids and the hard work of several local families, has grown into an organization of nearly 200 players — boys and girls, grades K-8 — experiencing all that lacrosse has to offer. SYL’s motto is “Honor the Game” — and no one exemplified that more than Coach Scott Brooks, who sadly left us this past February after succumbing to esophageal cancer.

Coach Brooks was instrumental in helping SYL flourish. He brought his experience as a varsity Princeton lacrosse player to dozens of area kids who were fortunate to have him as a coach; his last two players are in their final season with SYL, moving on to high school next year. His enthusiasm can be felt throughout our entire organization to this day.

After his illness forced him to step away from coaching, Coach Brooks still attended games when he was able, and enthusiastically cheered for his former players after they’d moved on to their high school teams. The kids, and the game, always drew him to the sidelines.

His appreciation of those learning lacrosse and his love of the game will never be forgotten. Coach Brooks, thank you; we will always think of you as we Honor The Game.
